At IAA 2024 in Hanover, Germany, Easyland unveiled its latest solutions and products for new energy commercial vehicles!

The 2024 International Motor Show (IAA 2024) will be held in Hanover, Germany, from September 17 to 22. Easyland (Booth No.: Hall 23 D29) will showcase its hydrogen internal combustion engine turbocharging systems and hydrogen fuel cell compressor series products at this event.

 

I. Highlights Overview

Hydrogen energy and various alternative energies are key to global emission reduction and achieving "net zero" goals. Easyland has launched hydrogen internal combustion engine turbocharging systems and hydrogen fuel cell compressor products based on different application technology routes for hydrogen energy, suitable for various commercial vehicle applications.

  1. Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine Turbocharging System

Easyland has introduced a turbocharging system suitable for different applications and performance requirements based on hydrogen internal combustion engine ultra-lean combustion technology. This includes the next-generation hydrogen internal combustion engine VGT, electric turbochargers, and two-stage turbocharging systems, compatible with engines ranging from 5L to 16L in displacement.

 

a. Next-Generation Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine VGT

The new VGT product from Easyland is specifically designed for hydrogen internal combustion engines. It features synchronized aerodynamic performance optimization of nozzle and turbine blades, as well as blade gap control technology, which further enhances turbine efficiency by 2%-3%. Additionally, the optimized VG drive mechanism enhances auxiliary thermal management functions, improving engine exhaust emissions.

b. Electric Turbocharger
Easyland has introduced an electric turbocharger (Figure 2) that enhances the transient capability of hydrogen internal combustion engines. This product effectively addresses the NOx emission issues associated with transient responses caused by traditional turbocharger lag in hydrogen fuel internal combustion engines.
When combined with the next-generation hydrogen internal combustion engine VGT (Figure 3), the electric turbocharger meets the airflow and pressure ratio requirements for ultra-lean combustion, achieving performance equivalent to that of diesel or natural gas engines of the same displacement, particularly excelling in transient response.

· Exceptional speed response of 30,000 RPM to 90,000 RPM @ 1s
· Wide flow range, with a maximum of 420 g/s
· Maximum pressure ratio of 2.0
· Maximum speed of 90,000 RPM

c. Two-Stage Turbocharger System

Easyland has customized a two-stage turbocharger system (Figure 4) that provides a wider flow range and higher pressure ratios for compressed air. The new two-stage turbocharger system enhances overall efficiency by 3%-5% through improvements in the aerodynamic performance of each stage, optimization of the high-pressure stage turbine bypass mechanism, and inter-stage cooling of the compressor, enabling hydrogen internal combustion engines to achieve power density and torque characteristics comparable to diesel engines.

· Enhanced low-speed torque of the engine
· Increased EGR drive capability
· Improved engine transient response capability

  1. Hydrogen Fuel Cell Compressor Series

The hydrogen fuel cell compressor series is designed for hydrogen fuel cell systems ranging from 0.5 kW to 300 kW, applicable in various vehicle sectors including motorcycles, forklifts, passenger cars, buses, light trucks, and heavy trucks, as well as non-vehicle applications like UPS, ships, and combined heat and power systems. In the heavy-duty commercial vehicle sector, Easyland has specifically launched two-stage turbocharged hydrogen fuel cell compressors and variable geometry expansion fuel cell compressors to enhance the efficiency of fuel cell systems, meeting customer demands for low power consumption and cost reduction.


a. Two-Stage Turbocharged Hydrogen Fuel Cell Compressor

To cater to diverse hydrogen fuel cell application needs, Easyland has introduced the FCC two-stage turbocharged series, achieving comprehensive power coverage with superior performance, compatible with 15 kW to 200 kW fuel cell systems. The maximum overall efficiency reaches 70% or higher, demonstrating a significant performance advantage over competitors.

b. Variable Geometry Expansion Fuel Cell Compressor
Easyland’s FCTC series of expansion machines utilizes variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) technology to achieve efficient energy recovery, compatible with 150 kW to 300 kW fuel cell systems. In terms of expansion machine design, Easyland offers personalized solutions tailored to different system characteristics (such as varying pressure drops and flow rates). The energy recovery feature of the expansion machine can enhance the efficiency of the fuel cell system by approximately 5%, meeting customer demands for low power consumption and reduced operating costs.

 

Product Features:
· Motor speed of up to 110,000 RPM
· Extremely long operational lifespan for fuel cell systems
· Exceptional power density (power/volume) ratio
