From April 19 to 23, 2024, the World Internal Combustion Engine Conference was grandly held in Tianjin. During the same period, the Ammonia Engine Innovation Alliance, with Jiangsu Easyland Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Easyland") serving as a council member, was officially launched by the China Internal Combustion Engine Society. This marks an important step toward achieving carbon neutrality in the internal combustion power sector in China. The Ammonia Engine Innovation Alliance is guided by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, initiated by the China Internal Combustion Engine Society, and spearheaded by Academician Huang Zhen, Director of the Wuxi Carbon Neutral Power Technology Research Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The "Ammonia Engine Innovation Alliance" is a collaborative innovation platform that aligns with the needs of the ammonia engine industry, pooling resources and wisdom from various parties. It focuses on tackling common key technologies related to ammonia engines, establishing a technical standard system for ammonia engines, promoting technological advancement and industrialization of ammonia engines, and contributing to the high-quality development of China's ammonia engine sector to support the green, low-carbon, and sustainable development of the economy and society.

As a "carbon-free" clean energy source, ammonia offers new options for rapidly adjusting the energy structure and accelerating the carbon neutrality process. Many countries are actively researching green ammonia technology and planning their industrial layouts. Currently, over 60 green ammonia projects are in development globally, with a total planned capacity exceeding 15 million tons per year. In China, the total planned capacity for green ammonia projects is approximately 3.8 million tons. The country has established a systematic approach to production, storage, transportation, and supply, with favorable conditions for synthesis and utilization, positioning it to play an important role in the global ammonia energy industry.
